Tutorial Session with Annegrete
I brought in all of my pieces to get some feedback on each and in general I think I need to touch upon the final finishes on each project. These are some feedbacks I had in class;
- The Last Flower Project: Why is that perticular shape? -What is the message behind?
- Self initiated Brief: What's the message? -What do I want to tell people for being only female? How can I make connection to others?
- Nudism Brief: Typography definitely needs to develop.
Next Step
Write out an introduction page for each project focusing on who is my audience and if I made choices of materials in each project then address why I have chosen that particular one.

Primitive London-research/inspirations/experiementations
I spent time watching and capturing the images of the movie for the whole day...The capturing process was sooo tiring and boring...but in the end I realised how important the process was. In general, to be honest I really liked Carousella by John Irvin and Tim Miller than the actually film which was mainly about the life behind three strippers and it engaged me to feel how the pitfall environments that they are trying to live up for their dreams and sometimes being 'ordinary' is difficulty for them. Anyways, talking back about the film Primitive London, since this brief was open about any mediums or style in the magazine as I have said early on I wanted to use some illustrations in the magazine but before I move on to that point, I wanted to study the colour and images that I would work inspired by the film so that I can portray 1960's London in my design.
COLOUR INSPIRATIONS
TEXTURE INSPIRATIONS
Final experimentation was to experiment using glitter on different papers inspired by the neon signs from London at night time. At this point I am not sure if I would use these glitter/dust effect in my design though ...hmmm...

Nudism brief-research/experimentation
Captured from 'London in the raw'
A film by Arnold L.Miller
Captured image with Hand written typography
inspired by a song 'forbidden fruit' within the documentary
Illustration works
I have placed an order of my DVD for 'Primitive London' on Amazon because I couldn't get it anywhere in HMVs around both Oxford and Bond street. So till my DVD arrives (which will be tomorrow afternoon) I just wanted to start exploring and experiment the sort of format I want to work with. I have to be honest that I haven't done much of drawing since my foundation year and plus I wanted to add some of illustrations and hand written text in this project which will take hell lot of more time than working on computers so I just wanted to practice my hand drawing skills :)
Anyways, watching the film was interesting since I was so fascinated by the colours, fashions, mood through out the film and the background music, especially its lyrics. So that's the reason why I think I spent time writing down its lyrics because I just think they are so attractive.
In general, even though I have been living in London quite a long time it was kind of a wake up call for me to visit and to look around places for inspirations inside London. For this weekend, I might visit some of the places to take few photographs to get some inspirations and I will have to wait for my DVD to arrive! Till then, I will go to sleep now...

'The only Female'-Self initiated brief
My family background
Since my interest lies in feminism and role of women in society, I decided to use myself within my family hood to start the idea of this project. I thought it might get little risky to use myself in this project as it might gets too personal, but I think my family background is rather unusual since I am the only female member throughout the generations. Personally, this background has influenced my life greatly that I think it even effected my style of work. Also, I had to feel always lonely and left out for being the only female that most of times I had no one else who could understand the feelings of being a typical women and it built a complex relationship with my dad, too. The project moved on illustrating myself within the dominance of male existence in my family and on to my personal letter that I am addressing some of real emotions that I have been always wanted to say to my dad. As being an only daughter, most of times I had to act(or pretend) to be a better daughter than I am and it involved some sacrifices in my life, too. I guess this project was more focused on myself as I wanted to break out my dad's shell and may be become a bigger person on my own.
Final outcome
Feed back with David Preston
I enjoyed today's crit because we were separated in two different groups so I had a smaller group in the afternoon to discuss about my project. So we had more time to think about each projects and lot of discussions were thrown on the table. David mentioned that we should bring more experiments and process to crits which I felt the same too so it was a reminder for myself. Anyways, in general I was bit worried if my project was too personal but in the end I realised it became strong because it was based on my fact and the group suggested that I should target the message of the male dominance in the society in a broader content. I really wanted to push my idea such as a shoe stack in 3D installation piece and someone in my group suggested I could possibly do that for my final degree show which I thought it would be interesting.
Feed back on illustration: Good but the relationship of myself and family isn't clear. Try to map it more clearly so the viewer can understand the relationships better.
Relevance: Is that relevant to people? Start few investigations more and extend it to a bigger visual audience. May be compare myself to someone who isn't?
Nest Step: Collect other people who are in similar situation. Interview them and see how they thinks.
